The Village of Bismarck sits in rural Vermilion County in east-central Illinois, just west of the Indiana state line.

The village is located along Illinois Route 1 — the state's first marked highway — between the Wabash River valley to the east and the North Fork of the Vermilion River to the west. Danville lies roughly 10 miles to the south.
